Feb 5, 2017: The Merrimack Valley Trail Riders off-road motorcycle club held its annual Icebox charity dirt bike ride. Each year a different charity is chosen and this year’s choice happened to be the Cystic Fibrosis foundation of Northern New England. Recent year’s charities include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Red Cross, The ALS association, and many more.
By noon there were around 50 or so riders ready to hit the 1.2 mile road course on the ice. There were no oval tracks, just a twisty path winding its way around the pond. A quick rider’s meeting before heading down to the pond ensured that everyone would be on the same page.
After the ride there were crock pots full of anything from meatballs to mac-n-cheese waiting in a nice warm tent. Plenty of deserts too!
A bon fire was set for those wanting to hang around and bench race.
When all was said and done the riders emptied 17 crock pots and raised well over $1700 for CF.
Give yourselves a pat on the back.
